A message from your President

james_doran_normalHello and welcome to the 153rd Egham Royal Show.  I am proud, privileged and honoured to have been elected to serve the association as President.  Our previous retiring President Douglas Newton is a hard act to follow; I will strive to continue the good work he has carried out during his presidency and congratulate him on all he achieved.

I have been involved with the show since 1987 starting on the gates until I re-introduced pigs and sheep in 1989 as an exhibition and added competitive classes in 1990.  I concentrated on rare and traditional British breeds and have enjoyed many years of great support from exhibitors who love coming back year after year to soak up the friendly atmosphere, often encouraging others they know to attend as first time exhibitors too.

We have a great show line up for 2011 full of exciting attractions and arena acts as well as our regular sections that form the foundation of the event.  Please take a few minutes to explore the site to see what is planned for 2011.

Wishing you all an enjoyable fun packed visit.

Kind Regards

James Doran

President.

Your show needs You

Volunteers are required to help put on the biggest annual event in Egham.

Many duties are required to be completed prior to the show from erecting pedestrian walkways to positioning tables and chairs around the showground. Also the grass is given a rough cut prior to the event but in certain areas, such as inside the marquees, the grass must be cut shorter. This is the sort of work that must be done and the adage 'many hands make light work' is so true. If you can spare even just a couple of hours I would be most grateful.

From the Chairman ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ):

It's not just the 2 days of the show where assistance is wanted. Apart from the many meetings held all year round to make the show the wonderful event it is, the show organising starts about 2 weeks before and then finishes about a week after the bank holiday weekend. The Egham Royal Show is looking for volunteers to assist the Show Manager, John Bonnett to get the showground in order and assist with various duties over about a 3 week period starting 15th August and ending around 5th September.

You don't have to do 3 weeks solid, just a few hours here and there will make John's life much easier!
