Livestock
Livestock
We will have a full display of rare breed livestock including pigs, sheep and cattle, both dairy and beef as well as our excellent display of very rare poultry. This is complimented by the story of milk and our wonderful heard of wooden cows that children can milk. It is probable Milk & More will sponsor a free sample of milk for children to take away to complete the experience.

The highlight of the livestock being competitive classes. On Saturday for the 2nd year we have modern and traditional breed pig classes and for the first time since 1997 competitive cattle classes with the introduction of our Dexter classes. On Sunday we have rare, minority and traditional breed sheep classes in the judging ring followed by a main arena grand parade and presentation of cups by our President in the afternoon, a full schedule can be downloaded below. We also have some alpaca this year too.
Rainbow farm will be back again this year with small animal to pet, rabbits, guinea pigs and ducks.

| Livestock Report for 2010 |
| 2010 saw the re-introduction or competitive rare and modern traditional pig classes for the first time since 1997 which were enthusiastically supported with entries and welcomed by pig breeders as a great addition to their show calendar. We had a good display of rare breed sheep both days with many more arriving on Sunday for the well supported competitive classes. It was a delight to have Dexter cattle on display which we plan to develop into a niche completive cattle section this year 2011. The livestock section was complimented by a wonderful array of rare breed poultry, alpaca and small animals for children to admire such as rabbits, ducks and guinea pigs. A big thank you to Phoenix for the brilliant model cows that children could simulate milking by hand alongside our eductational story of milk; form field to fridge. As always the judging ring was crowded with spectators keen to learn more about each breed, the hands on experience for children to mingle with the piglets and learn pig and sheep handling skills was well received by the children as an enjoyable actively whilst parents appreciated the educational value. Overall a very successful year. |
